While admiring a flower raceme on the Grevillea Honey Gem, several native bees were observed working busily in the flowers. Photos of the moving bees were hard to get, holding the raceme in one hand against the breeze, and operating the camera with the other, but enough were obtained to get an identification on Inat, Amphilaeus obscuriceps the Dark-headed Dimorphic-Masked Bee. A couple of days later more were taken to enable this post. Male and female bees were present and the following images show the differing faces of both. This species is a new bee record for the garden and very pleasing to see in this time of invertebrate diminishment.
