A big flock of Tree Martins observed a few weeks ago prompted a return visit to check on breeding activity, and a few kilometres down the road there it was. A good sized Red Gum with many dead branch stubs as well as holes in living branches were occupied by the breeding birds that were busy supplying insect meals to the chicks.

Dappled light and the sheer speed of the arriving and departing birds made photography extremely difficult, but we did get a selection of shots that may give some idea of the activity.
