Tetratheca thymifolia has been a very successful plant in a raised bed, never without flowers that attract a range of creatures, eg. this tiny lynx spider lurking in the beauty waiting for a meal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx001bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx002bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx004.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx004bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/lynx006bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"339\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leptospermums are a rich source of nectar for many insects, every year among the first to sample the rotundifolium sweetness is an admiral butterfly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/nectaring2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/nectaring2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The house is part of the ecosystem, and is utilised by many invertebrates. On the first hot day to arrive as we approach summer, tachinid flies and wasps found the coolness of the walls offered respite from the heat.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/tachinid.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/tachinidbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"314\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/wasp1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/wasp1bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/wasp2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/wasp2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Mistletoe Moth, Comocrus behri found the Callistemon viminalis a good nectar source.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/comocrus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/comocrusbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Black-faced Perchers, Diplacodes melanopsis are regular in the garden at this time of year, and as time goes by will gradually attain their distinctive colour.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/percher.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden\/percherbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Click to enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the name of this post suggests, a garden can be a diverse and thriving ecosystem, and the next posts will illustrate some of that diversity.
