{"id":3976,"date":"2022-10-11T11:16:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T00:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/?p=3976"},"modified":"2022-10-11T11:16:36","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T00:16:36","slug":"spring-wildflowers-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/2022\/10\/11\/spring-wildflowers-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Wildflowers #1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first trip to check out the wildflower scene in the foothill forest, and the first impression was the large number of waxlip orchids, Glossodia major flowering.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/wax2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"499\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A lot of understory growth had also occurred in the twelve months since the last visit, with many shrubs of Pultenaea daphnoides over a metre high thanks to abundant rainfall. Pink Fingers, Caladenia fuscata were also numerous with colours from white to deep pink.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/fusc2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"629\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last season bearded orchids were abundant at this location later in the month, but the only other orchid seen was a Thelymitra ixioides in bud, so the focus shifted to other wildflowers. Guinea flowers are a bright splash of colour in the bush, and two species were photographed, Hibbertia obtusifolia and Hibbertia calycina.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/hib1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"636\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/hib2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Always nice to see, Pigea monopetala, Slender Violet-bush.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/erect.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"512\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just one Milkmaid to be seen, Burchardia umbellata.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/milk.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"621\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nodding Blue Lily, Stypandra glauca is a very familiar plant in these forests.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/nodd.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And back to yellow, one of the Parrot Peas, Dillwynia glaberrima.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/autumn22\/dill.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"491\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first trip to check out the wildflower scene in the foothill forest, and the first impression was the large number of waxlip orchids, Glossodia major flowering.
