{"id":3763,"date":"2022-02-12T12:34:36","date_gmt":"2022-02-12T01:34:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/?p=3763"},"modified":"2022-02-12T12:34:36","modified_gmt":"2022-02-12T01:34:36","slug":"recent-observations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/2022\/02\/12\/recent-observations\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent Observations."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the garden the Corymbia watsoniana has been in flower, and on a warm day a large number of mating flower wasps, subfamily Thynninae, were feeding on the nectar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/watsoniana.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"754\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These wasps can remain together for a considerable time, and the considerate male ensures that the wingless female is also able to feed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/pair.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"1023\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another wasp species drawn to the nectar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/wasp8.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"616\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A couple of Black-faced Perchers appeared briefly and then disappeared.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/percher2.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"475\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Work still continued at the bee hotel,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/nest2.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"890\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With visits to the nearby Crowea exalata planted for just such a purpose.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/bee.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"502\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And feeding on Bursaria spinosa, a Punctate Flower Chafer, Neorrhina punctatum.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/chafer1.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"711\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The hairiness of these beetles is very apparent on enlargement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix30\/chafer2.jpg\" width=\"702\" height=\"642\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the garden the Corymbia watsoniana has been in flower, and on a warm day a large number of mating flower wasps, subfamily Thynninae, were feeding on the nectar.
