Normally one sees slaters in decaying vegetable matter in the garden, but on this occasion quite a number were roaming around on the trunk of a red gum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/iso.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/isob.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"657\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The red gums are favoured habitat for these small spiders in the family Theridiidae.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/theridiid.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/theridiidb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"789\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On a windy day this Limoniid Crane Fly was clinging on in a sheltered spot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/cranefull.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/cranefullb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"725\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/crane.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"856\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A random check of a flowering Broom shrub in the neighbouring garden showed that native bees are only too happy to collect pollen from this exotic garden plant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/bee2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/bee2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"705\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/bee1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/bee1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"705\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And in another surprise, Jotus frosti that were discovered living in the agapanthus next door have apparently decided that the house is a good place to hang out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/frosti.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"832\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Some images will enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So far moths are the main visitors to the light with other photogenic insects scarce, this Chironomid was worth a shot to show the beautiful antennae..
