This Holoplatys species however was an exception, and was happy to potter about close to its bark flake retreat on a red gum trunk while several photos were taken.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/jumpern.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/jumpernb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"714\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This Emertonella species was tiny, its body being only a couple of millimetres across. The genus is in the same sub family as Euryopis umbilicata, and probably also feeds on ants.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/emertonella.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/emertonellab.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"627\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And speaking of Euryopis, here is another shot of female and male with remains of meals, sugar ants that continually track up and down the eucs in search of nectar or sweet insect secretions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/pair.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/pairb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"535\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Badumna species are very common in the trees, this is Badumna longinqua.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/sp01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/sp01b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"593\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Snowy River Wattle, Acacia boormanii is in full flower and attracting lots of winged insects, and there to welcome them are more than one small orb weavers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"775\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb3b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"718\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/orb4.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"827\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Common on trees at the moment are Dark-winged Fungus Gnats, here is a mating pair.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix18\/mating.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"873\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Click to enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Flat Jumping Spiders like to hang out in cracks or under loose bark, and generally have been very wary and difficult to approach to photograph.
