{"id":262,"date":"2016-12-12T04:29:44","date_gmt":"2016-12-12T04:29:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/?p=262"},"modified":"2016-12-12T04:29:44","modified_gmt":"2016-12-12T04:29:44","slug":"a-tale-of-two-gardens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/2016\/12\/12\/a-tale-of-two-gardens\/","title":{"rendered":"A Tale of Two Gardens."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A visit to a friend&#8217;s garden was productive, butterflies were nectaring on some tall everlastings, making for some nice pictures.<\/p>\n<p>Painted Lady, Vanessa kershawi, a pristine specimen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/plady1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/plady1bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/plady2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/plady2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And on the fishpond, floating Nardoo foliage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/nardoo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/nardoobl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is always good to find a St. Andrews Cross spider, Argiope keyserlingi, in the garden, and this one came with a bonus, the male in position on the decorative silk cross behind the female.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/pair.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/pairbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/fem.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/fembl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/male.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/malebl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the time of year for the Australian Jewel Spider, aka Spiny Spider, Austracantha minax, and there is what can only be described as a colony in the Burrendong Beauty hakea. Strangely, the twenty or so spiders are all facing into the shrub, south, away from the sun, meaning only their interesting under-sides could be photographed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/spiny.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/spiders\/spinybl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Out in the paddock there is plenty of seed available for cockies and friends,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/cockie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/cockiebl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>however, on a showery morning the Little Corellas found the seed on the Snowy River Wattle to be more inviting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/corella3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/corella3bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/corella8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/corella8bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"352\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And with plenty of grevillea flowers on tap the young Red Wattlebirds have been growing quickly and becoming independent,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/young wattle01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/young wattle01bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and learning to be wary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/young wattle02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix5\/young wattle02bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Click pictures to enlarge.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A visit to a friend&#8217;s garden was productive, butterflies were nectaring on some tall everlastings, making for some nice pictures.
