The second shot caught it just as it flew off to fresh fields and flowers new.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/nectaring.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/nectaringbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/flight.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/flightbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shield bugs have been not uncommon,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/bug2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/bug2bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>including this spined species on the big old\u00a0 hybrid correa,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/bug1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/bug1bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>with close by a batch of eggs, not long laid, possibly by the above individual.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/eggs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/eggsbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The correa is a rich source of photographs, a mantis egg case with an arboreal cockroach nymph, Ellipsidion australis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/mantiscase.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/mantiscasebl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"347\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Damselflies find it a good place to hunt and perch, a female Blue Ringtail, Austrolestes annulosus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/damsel1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/damsel1bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"470\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Green Long-legged Flies have, like hoverflies, been in unprecedented numbers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/landingpad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/landingpadbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Leptospermums are in flower and attracting a range of nectaring insects. An Australian Admiral, Vaness itea had been very elusive, but on this occasion was so intent on feeding that it disregarded the photographer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/admiral1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/admiral1bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/admiral2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/admiral2bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The strawberry bed has also been a good photo spot with again, the green flies,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/greens.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/greensbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>the attractive little cockroach nymphs,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/roach.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/roachbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and ladybirds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/ladybird.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix4\/ladybirdbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And with so many insects about there are of course predators, in this case again in the strawberry bed, a lynx spider, either Oxyopes elegans, or gracilipes, the two are very difficult to tell apart in the field.
