In this area the flowers generally are white or pale cream, whereas further east in Gippsland they can be bright yellow. The only insects observed on the flowers were honey bees.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/terminalis.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"906\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A search for jumping spiders in sunlit areas of leaf litter was successful with this Hypoblemum species,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/jump1.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"565\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/jump2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"547\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/jump3.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"541\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And another with bright pedipalps and a raised fringe of white hairs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/jump4.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"545\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/jump5.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"545\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also hunting in the warmth of the sun and living up to their name were Swift Spiders, Nyssus albopunctatus. Eventually one paused briefly for a photo opportunity.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/swiftb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"547\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Two more denizens of the leaf litter were a Red-headed Spider Ant, Leptomyrmex erythrocephalus, click following images to enlarge,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/ant2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/ant2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"624\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/ant1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/ant1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"593\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And a Gumleaf Grasshopper, confident in its camouflage and easy to photograph.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/hopper.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/hopperb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"724\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Small skinks were active, this is probably the Dark-flecked Sun Skink, Lampropholis delicata.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/skink.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/skinkb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"364\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one was hard to catch up with, after a previous experience it had obviously learnt to be wary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/skink2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/gladstone\/skink2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"452\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The final stop was at a hillside slope that three years ago used to be good for the Peacock Jumping Spiders Maratus volans and Maratus plumosus, however despite a careful search none were found.
