{"id":1906,"date":"2019-04-01T03:39:01","date_gmt":"2019-04-01T03:39:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/?p=1906"},"modified":"2019-04-01T03:39:01","modified_gmt":"2019-04-01T03:39:01","slug":"random-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.bencruachan.org\/naturality\/2019\/04\/01\/random-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Random Collection."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the eucalypts outgrowing their bark there are lots of hiding places behind the loose flakes, Chalcopteroides cyanopterus, (Tenebrionidae) in its various colour forms takes full advantage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/green.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/greenb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"645\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/beetle (2).jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"887\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Paropsisterna intacta, (Chrysomelidae) is a handsome leaf beetle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/stripes2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/stripes2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"736\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Small leaf beetles like this Paropsis species come to the moth light on occasion.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/beetle.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"846\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As do Ichneumon wasps, like this nice Enicospilus species, a caterpillar parasite.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/waspb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"931\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When mothing is under way in the garden, foraging sugar ant soldiers are soon on the scene to gather small moths that inevitably get crushed underfoot on the groundsheet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/ant.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/antb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"758\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This season has been notable for the lack (among many things) of spiders. Normally the trees would be festooned with garden orb-weaver webs, not so, leaf-curlers are missing, and jumpers have been extremely scarce. Christmas Jewel Spiders that left numerous egg sacs last season were a non event, likewise St. Andrew&#8217;s Cross, so, photographs are scarce. However this neat retreat of an unknown species behind an external power-point was well worth a snap.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/doorway.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/doorwayb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"757\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A disturbed huntsman couldn&#8217;t find a bark flake for cover so had to settle for camouflage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/huntsman.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/huntsmanb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"789\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This fly with partially developed wings seen on a vegetable plot was captured for a later snap.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/manf03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden14\/manf03b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"715\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Some images will enlarge with a click.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the eucalypts outgrowing their bark there are lots of hiding places behind the loose flakes, Chalcopteroides cyanopterus, (Tenebrionidae) in its various colour forms takes full advantage.
