Doubleday&#8217;s or Lilac Grass-skipper, Toxidia doubledayi, family Hesperidae. The wing markings show that these are male butterflies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk045.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk045bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"286\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk053.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk053bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk064.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk064bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two blue species, family Lycaenidae, were nectaring, the Fringed Heath-blue, Neolucia agricola agricola, and the Common Grass-blue, Zizina labradus labradus. The larval food plants of the former are Daviesia species and D. leptophylla is common along the track.<\/p>\n<p>Fringed Heath-blue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk027.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk027bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"323\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk028.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk028bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"319\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk031bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"403\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Common Grass-blue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk048c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk048cbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"285\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Moths in the Noctuid family eg. Helicoverpa sp.were nectaring, although elusive, this small Oecophorid, Ocystola paulinella was cooperative, although pretending it wasn&#8217;t there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/angustk013bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A brightly coloured flying creature was followed until it landed, a leaf eating beetle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/beetle2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/beetle2bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And the predators, a robber fly with native bee prey,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/robber1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/robber1bl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And a wasp that had just dropped its wingless female.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/wasp.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix3\/waspbl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"412\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Click images to enlarge the wonderful world of invertebrates.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;..grow banks of Goodenia ovata, and when the flowers are producing nectar they are a magnet for many types of insect and their predators.
