This web is one of several on an ironbark.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/badumna.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/badumnab.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"695\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Drynaplaneta communis is known as the Common Shining Cockroach, this one though is the first garden sighting, coming to light when a sheet of bark peeled off the Angophora costata.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cockroach.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cockroachb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Blue Skimmer, Orthetrum caledonicum perched in the shade of a grevillea for a time. A little of the blue pruinescence that gives the dragonfly its common name can just be seen.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cal1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cal1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"508\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cal2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/cal2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Heteropsilopus ingenuus is a very small fly with a big name. What it lacks in size though is made up for by its attractive appearance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/Heteropsilopus ingenuus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/Heteropsilopus ingenuusb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"692\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/Heteropsilopus ingenuus2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"701\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The small Banded Beefly has been appearing from time to time, this time on a Xerochrysum.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/beefly1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/beefly1b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"593\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/beefly2.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"598\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Noticed quickly ascending the trunk of a Brittle Gum, a Golden-tailed Bull Ant, possibly Myrmecia fulvipes, barely time for a quick snap.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/ant.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"864\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Shortly afterwards, something seen moving across the ground, impossible to see what it was due to the speed. A number of photographs were taken, and all became clear, another bull ant had caught a cockroach and was taking it to the nest backwards at a surprising rate of knots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/ant2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/garden12\/ant2b.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"509\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Most images will enlarge with a click.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spider webs can be works of art, the web of Badumna hardly falls into that category although the front door is neatly made.
