Unfortunately no photos in those days before a suitable digital camera, but Magpie Geese have also visited occasionally,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/mgooseb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"518\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and this pair was snapped nearby on Flooding Creek on an old post and rail fence dating back to the early days of settlement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/geese.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/geeseb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"564\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also in the creek beside the lake, a White-faced Heron hunting in luxuriant Water Ribbon vegetation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/heron.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/heronb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"532\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Australian White Ibis can at times be less than respectable when encountered at landfill sites or picnic spots for example, however this photo in a natural environment presents a different picture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/ibis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/guyatt\/ibisb.jpg\" width=\"700\" height=\"522\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the water level fluctuates, different species take advantage of the food that has become available. Lower levels concentrate fish for the pelicans, and waders like spoonbills work the shallows.
