Here is a selection from two recent moth sessions, firstly from the bush adjacent to Lake Glenmaggie.<\/p>\n<p>Although it&#8217;s not yet March, march flies are well and truly on the wing in the box\/ironbark bush. This one found boot leather too hard to penetrate so gave up and settled on the sheet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/march.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/marchbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Damsel and dragonflies are infrequent arrivals, this Australian Emerald, Hemicordulia australiae came in for a while and persisted in standing on its head.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/ausem.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/ausembl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Craneflies though are common visitors, their legs never cease to amaze.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/crane.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/cranebl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"289\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adult antlion lacewings are also very frequent, this is Glenoleon pulchellus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/lace.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/lacebl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"490\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And with wings spread.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/alion.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/alionbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beetles can swarm in earlier in the season, they are quieter now making moth photography a little easier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/beemoth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/beemothbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"317\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Longicorns come in many sizes, small and large, here are two examples.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/long1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/long1bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/long2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/long2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another lacewing, one of the greenish ones.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/lace2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/lace2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"491\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And on a night drawing from the garden, a mole cricket that had so far escaped the attention of the many roaming bluebottles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/cricket.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/cricketbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A large number of water bugs, as distinct from water beetles that can also fly in, flew in on this night, possibly from a nearby dam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/bug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/bugbl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"325\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/bug2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/naturality\/pix10\/bug2bl.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"348\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And to conclude, a Common Antlion adult, Myrmeleon acer.
